For the past decade I have been interested in investing in a vacation property in Belize, but was nervous about all of the unknowns associated with buying a house in a different country. I have completed many real estate transactions in my lifetime; never have I had such a painless and confident experience. I have been traveling to Belize for several years now. I have spent time in the amazing jungle inland, as well as the beautiful white sand beaches on the islands. As a scuba diver, the reef is a beauty beyond description. Loving the country, and even more, the people, we started the process of seeking property on Ambergris Caye in hopes of a paradise home. Through my quest for information, I came across Will Mitchell’s channel and guides to Belize on YouTube. I was hooked, binge watching all I could absorb. I finally decided to reach out to Will in an email to inquire for more direct information. To my surprise, I received a phone call response from Chris Letellier within 20 minutes of my email. My first thought was, “wow, these guys are on their game”. I spent the following week in communication with Chris, who was incredibly knowledgeable, easy to work with, and readily available for any questions. In a crazy chain of events, I found myself on an airplane to Belize the following weekend to meet Chris in person and look at property. It’s a much longer story, but basically, I woke up on Sunday morning, with a wild hair, sent Chris an email to which he immediately responded, and asked, “if I were to get on an airplane today, are you available?” 3 Hours later, I was on a flight from Texas to Belize. Chris picked me up in a golf cart, (which is awesome about the island) and got me settled into my accommodations. We had dinner that evening and discussed many potential opportunities. The next morning Monday, Chris picked me up to tour those opportunities. We started at the RE/MAX main offices in Mahogany Bay where I was introduced to the World-Famous YouTube sensation Will Mitchell, and the Legendary Dustin Rennie. More on these two guys in a moment. Secret Beach is an outstanding option, but I was interested in purchasing close to San Pedro, so we concentrated on Mahogany Bay. After a thorough tour of the expansive development and all the amenities, as well as several houses currently being built. I was incredibly impressed with the beauty and craftmanship of Belizeans. Hand crafted cabinetry, wood floors, beautiful island feel. I was hooked and sold! Further, I got along so well with my agent Chris, my wife and I chose a lot directly next door from the house he is currently building! This is another comforting factor, I found most every member of the RE/MAX team in Mahogany Bay live or are currently building there. Not like the car salesman who sells you a Chevrolet but drives home in a Ford. I found these people believe in their product and put their own money where their mouth is.
