Is Belize about to have its travel moment? Smart data might make it happen. That has been the latest from the leading travel data and analytics company, “ForwardKeys”, in their 2025 analysis.
As the global tourism landscape continues to evolve, destinations like Belize are uniquely positioned to capitalize on growth opportunities — but only if equipped with the right intelligence. ForwardKeys provided an analysis of the latest air travel trends. This data and scope provide insight and give a tool for Belize to anticipate demand, fine-tune its strategies, and strengthen its resilience in a shifting market.
What is ForwardKeys?
ForwardKeys is a travel intelligence and data company that provides real-time analytics and insights on travel demand, forecasting, and traveler behavior for the tourism industry.
ForwardKeys data consists of aggregated and analyzed information on global travel, including flight bookings, searches, and stays. The data from ForwardKeys provides insights into traveler behavior, market trends, and future demand for destinations. This big data intelligence helps investors, tourism boards, hotels, and retailers understand where travelers are coming from, when they are traveling, and how long they stay, enabling them to make informed strategic decisions to boost revenue and gain a competitive advantage.
Air Connectivity Sets the Stage for Belize Tourism Growth
International Airlines are responding to rising global demand by adding seat capacity and additional flights, with international air connectivity for Summer 2025 growth of +7% globally compared with the same period last year. Within this trend, the Americas show relatively even growth, but it’s Belize’s air supply performance that reveals some key opportunities.
Several top carriers have increased seat capacity to Belize between July and August 2025, with notable year-on-year gains from;
- TagAirlines (+25%)
- Southwest (+15%)
- Delta (+14%)
- Among Others
These increases represent more than just availability — they’re a vote of confidence in Belize’s appeal as a destination.
High Travel Intent from Europe and Canada
Flight searches for Belize are increasing, particularly from Europe and Canada, where interest in traveling in 2025 has significantly surpassed 2024 levels. The data also indicates encouraging levels of inbound demand, particularly from long-haul European markets utilizing key transfer points in the US and Mexico. For tourism operators and hoteliers, this shift suggests a diversification of source markets — reducing overreliance on regional traffic and creating new opportunities for targeted marketing, loyalty building, and experience design.

The Slow Season: a Growth Opportunity
According to ForwardKeys, the slow season has a high growth opportunity for Belize. While the low season (mid-August to mid-November) has traditionally been a quiet period, flight search data suggests a renewed interest in travel to Belize during this window for 2025, particularly from;
- Canada (+111% vs 2024)
- Belgium (+69% vs 2024)
- Panama (+30% vs 2024)
- Costa Rica (+16% vs 2024)
However, only Canada and Panama offer direct connections and non-stop flights.

Belize has room to expand its appeal during the low season. With the right strategy — including air connectivity, seasonal pricing, and targeted marketing — Belize could better balance arrivals across the calendar, supporting long-term sustainability.

Travel Demographics: Couples & Solo Travel Rising
One of the most interesting takeaways from the data and analysis was the identification of specific segments/demographics among tourists and travelers.
Notably, couples (43.5%) and solo travellers (38.1%) represented the most significant segments — aligning well with experiential, nature-based and wellness travel offers that thrive outside of peak periods.

Belize Competitive Advantage
Belize has a competitive advantage in affordability. Compared to the Caribbean average, Belize’s high-end hotel room rates remain competitively priced, providing an advantage in attracting premium leisure travellers seeking value without compromise. For hoteliers, this affordability presents an opportunity to reposition offerings or upsell experiences that deliver more revenue per guest while maintaining strong appeal.
“Belize’s tourism industry is at a pivotal moment. In order to capitalise on growing travel demand, the destination needs to keep developing its air connectivity and diversify its origin markets. Real-time and forward-looking data must become central to every strategic decision — from identifying high-intent markets to shaping low-season strategies and unlocking new routes. Embracing travel intelligence is key to building resilience, boosting profitability, and thriving in a competitive global market.”
